
The 2008 NSW Tourism Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday 20 November at Star City. Nearly 800 guests attended the magnificent evening of food, wine and blockbuster entertainment from La Fiesta Sound System. Presented by Tourism NSW, in conjunction with Tourism Industry Council NSW (TIC NSW), the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner is the largest and most anticipated event on the NSW tourism calendar.

31 awards were presented at the black tie gala by category sponsors, the Director General of the Department of State and Regional Development, Barry Buffier, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Council NSW, Ken Corbett and Executive Director and General Manger of Tourism NSW, Lyndel Gray. Tourism Minister the Hon. Jodi McKay MP and the 2008 Chair of Judges, John McKernan officially welcomed guests and congratulated winners.

Guests attended pre-dinner drinks in the Grand Harbour Ballroom Foyer and Astral Bar. The 2008 Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner was one of the best ever, showcasing excellence in the NSW Tourism Industry and introducing one of Australia's favourite Masters of Ceremonies, Larry Emdur.
