Australian Tourism Awards

The National Tourism Alliance manages and owns the Australian Tourism Awards.  

The 2008 Qantas Australian Tourism Award winners were announced at “The Big Event” on 27 February 2009 at Crown Melbourne.

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards recognise and promote excellence in tourism. They are the pinnacle of achievement for the tourism industry in our nation.

Finalists are drawn from State and Territory Tourism Awards winners. A total of 26 tourism operators from Sydney and NSW including attractions, tour and transport operators, accommodation providers, events and new tourism developments were finalists in the Awards.

NSW winners at the 2008 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards


NSW had more award winners than any other State. The six award winners from NSW were:

  • Pet Porpoise Pool (Best tourism attraction)
  • Montague Island Tours (Best ecotourism operator)
  • Lane Cove River Tourist Park (Best tourist and Caravan Park)
  • Sydney Central YHA (Best backpacker accommodation)
  • Crystal Creek Meadows Luxury Cottages and Spa Retreat (Best hosted accommodation)
  • Greater Blue Mountains Drive (Best new tourism development)
