
The inaugural Australia Week – G'day UK promotion was held in London from 24 – 30 June 2009.
The week-long series of events designed to bring Australia to the UK market and strengthen links between the two countries, is supported by NSW and other State Governments, the Australian Trade Commission, Qantas and Tourism Australia in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Wine Australia, Australian Business and key private sector sponsors.

Bondi on Thames saw Sydney’s iconic beach experience recreated alongside London’s famous river, complete with pristine white sand, beach fashion, surf lifesavers and a number of giveaways. Visitors to the event were encouraged to enter a competition to win a holiday for two through Qantas Airways to visit the real Bondi Beach, a Let's go Surfing lesson at Bondi and surf wear from the Hot Tuna clothing range.

Sydney and New South Wales also featured in a G'day UK campaign run by Tourism Australia with Qantas and Lonely Planet, where Brits were encouraged to vote for their favourite Australian experience. To see the promotion click here.

The United Kingdom is the largest source market for international visitors to NSW. The G’day UK promotion is an opportunity to remind people in England about the State’s great beaches, World-Heritage-listed national parks, vibrant nightlife and year round calendar of events.
