International Media Visits (IMV)
The International Media Visits program, operated by Tourism NSW, targets key media in international markets to develop editorial opportunities in print and electronic media in those markets. Journalists and film crews visit Sydney and New South Wales to prepare stories, articles and broadcast pieces. Tourism NSW offers industry opportunities to host journalists to showcase their own businesses.
During 05/06, more than 150 international media outlets visited Sydney and New South Wales resulting in more than $60 million in publicity for the state. Journalists from a range of top-tier magazine, news, print, television, radio and Internet outlets have covered a broad range of key travel and lifestyle experiences in the state.
Visiting Journalists Program (VJP)
The Visiting Journalists Program is a joint initiative between Tourism Australia and the State tourism organisations (including Tourism NSW) where the visit by the journalist or broadcast team is “shared” between two or more states. It is another type of media familiarisation.
Operators can support the Media Visits Programs by offering to showcase their product to journalists from a range of key international markets.
Specific opportunities for media visits can be found in our International Prospectuses.
