Lord Howe Island Winter Campaign, May 2008

The Lord Howe Island Winter 2008 advertising activity commenced on 4 May in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Tourism NSW partnered with the Lord Howe Island Regional Tourism Organisation, QantasLink and specialist travel agents to develop a range of online tactical activity.

Branded tactical activity included:

  • Online advertising including Google and Yahoo! Search Engine Marketing, Insider’s Guide to NSW on www.news.com.au, Pure Profile, electronic direct marketing, multilinks on SMH, The Age and Brisbane Times websites and advertorial on Ninemsn Travel
  • Promotion in Tourism NSW’s electronic consumer newsletter – escapes
  • New Lord Howe Island package deals on the Tourism NSW consumer website – www.visitnsw.com/lordhowe

Lord Howe Island campaign, Winter 2007

Tourism NSW's Lord Howe Island Winter/Spring marketing promotion took place in April and May 2007.

Lord Howe Island operators provided accommodation deals and Tourism NSW coordinated an online campaign including electronic direct marketing and Google search engine marketing.

The Lord Howe Island campaign, Spring 2006 won a Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award in the Public Relations category of the 2007 PATA Gold Awards.

The 20-page Holiday Planner was launched in Sydney in June, and was backed up by a comprehensive publicity and online campaign during Spring. 

The campaign featured publicity, electronic direct marketing and website promotions.  Popular travel programs such as Channel Nine’s Getaway and Channel Seven’s Sydney Weekender aired segments on Lord Howe Island and magazines such as Madison, Sunday and Qantas’ the Australian Way also ran stories.

As a result of the campaign there was a 28 per cent increase in traffic to the Lord Howe section of the Tourism NSW consumer website – www.visitnsw.com.au – from the previous campaign.

Tourism NSW ran the campaign in partnership with Lord Howe Island Tourism, five wholesale travel agents and Qantaslink.
