Strategies and Plans

Tourism NSW’s strategy and planning is directed to promote the sustainable growth and development of tourism in this state:

  • NSW Tourism Strategy – As part of the Mini-Budget in November 2008, the State Government announced that Tourism NSW would receive $40 million over three and a half years to implement the NSW Tourism Strategy. The Strategy was developed in consultation with the NSW tourism industry and provides a new direction for tourism growth.

  •  Towards 2020 - New South Wales Tourism Masterplan is a whole of government plan for developing the tourism industry. It is prepared by Tourism NSW on behalf of the NSW Government, involving over 40 state government agencies. The NSW Tourism Strategy states that the Masterplan will be replaced by the NSW Tourism Industry Plan which will be developed in 2009. The Tourism Industry Plan will be a joint plan for industry and Government. 

  •  The Department of State and Regional Development Strategic Plan is a three-year plan (currently from 2006 to 2009) which focuses on the programs and activities of the department and details our objectives, key corporate initiatives and key performance indicators.  

  • Tourism NSW Annual Operating Plan 2009-10 details the key acheievements of 2008-09 and the strategic intent and key priorities for the year ahead.
