Sydney 2009 World Masters Games

10 - 18 October

The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games is the seventh edition of the world’s largest multi-sport event, and the next major international event on the Sydney calendar. The World Masters Games is open to people of all abilities and most ages and attracts up to three times more competitors than the Olympics Games.

Sydney 2009 World Masters Games booth at Oztalk USAPeople from more than 100 countries will compete across 28 sports at upwards of 70 venues throughout the city, including many Olympic sites.

Tourism NSW has been involved with the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games since the earliest days – assisting with the Government’s event bid, and helping the new organising team in their set-up days.

The Games are an opportunity to showcase Sydney and NSW to a worldwide group of mature travellers. Through our tourism leveraging strategy we aim to find ways to tap into the particular needs and wants of the participants, so we can capture as many of their overnight stays, and the resultant expenditure, for New South Wales as possible.

How to be involved

NSW tourism operators and businesses are being offered the opportunity to:

1) Participate in a promotion which will be made available for Games participants and family. The promotion will be displayed in an information booklet provided to participants in their registration packs and will be valid 01 - 31 October 2009.

This opportunity is free of charge. To confirm your involvement please complete the offer form and return to sarah.williams@tourism.nsw.gov.au by close of business Monday 22 June 2009.

For industry already participating in the Tourism NSW Enliven Your Senses promotion, it is as simple as extending your current Take a Guest for FREE* offer to cover the new validity period on this form. Note block out dates and terms and conditions may be applied to the offer.

2) Host influential International Masters Games Association VIPs while they are here for the Games. Find out more and register your interest here.

3) Reach an estimated 25,000 domestic and international visitors by advertising in the official Sydney 2009 World Masters Games publications and/or website. The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games website, currently averages 30,000 visitors a month.
